An international scientific-practical congress marking the 90th anniversary of the Azerbaijan State Advanced Training Institute for Doctors named after Aziz Aliyev has opened in Baku.

Founded in 1935, the institute was established to meet the need for postgraduate medical education as Azerbaijan’s healthcare system developed under the former Soviet Union.
The institute has since trained thousands of doctors and pharmacists, played a key role during the Second World War, and expanded its academic and clinical departments over several decades.
It remains one of the country’s leading centres for continuing medical education, with close links to major hospitals and international partners.
Organisers say the congress aims to discuss recent scientific and practical advances in medicine and strengthen physicians’ professional skills.
