An international scientific-practical congress marking the 90th anniversary of the Azerbaijan State Advanced Training Institute for Doctors named after Aziz Aliyev has opened in Baku.
Azerbaijan’s Health Minister Teymur Musayev read out a message from President Ilham Aliyev to participants at the congress.
The two-day event, held with the support of the Ministry of Health, highlights the institute’s scientific and educational work in postgraduate medical training.
Founded in 1935, the institute was established to meet the need for postgraduate medical education as Azerbaijan’s healthcare system developed under the former Soviet Union.
The institute has since trained thousands of doctors and pharmacists, played a key role during the Second World War, and expanded its academic and clinical departments over several decades.
It remains one of the country’s leading centres for continuing medical education, with close links to major hospitals and international partners.
Organisers say the congress aims to discuss recent scientific and practical advances in medicine and strengthen physicians’ professional skills.
