Kobakhidze: NGOs attempted revolutionary actions

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said during a press briefing in Adjara that some non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have engaged in anti-state activities and attempted to instigate revolutionary processes with the support of foreign funding.

The Prime Minister emphasised that these matters are under investigation by law enforcement authorities:
"I am not aware of the details regarding the questioning of Qiqauri in the provocation case – that is not my responsibility. But you all know well that NGOs have been directly involved in anti-state actions and have tried to carry out revolutionary processes using foreign funds. The rest will be dealt with by law enforcement agencies," Kobakhidze said.

He also recalled protests in 2022 over the European Union’s decision not to grant Georgia candidate status:
"I remember that in June 2022, when the EU unfairly denied us candidate status, Eka Qiqauri and representatives of 'Transparency International' took to the stage demanding the resignation of the government and the formation of a new government with their own involvement. This was not the work of NGOs; it was an anti-state action," the Prime Minister stressed.
