Journalists gain insights into NATO’s work and its partnership with Azerbaijan during a Public Diplomacy Division visit.
Azerbaijani media representatives, including AnewZ, are taking part in a visit to NATO headquarters in Brussels at the invitation of the Alliance’s Public Diplomacy Division. The tour offers participants a first-hand opportunity to learn more about the workings of one of the world’s most influential international organisations.
Meeting at Azerbaijan’s Mission to NATO
As part of the programme, Head of Azerbaijan’s Mission to NATO, Jafar Huseynzade, met with a group of Azerbaijani media representatives at the Mission in Brussels. During the meeting, the diplomat provided information on the Azerbaijan–NATO partnership.
Strengthening understanding
During the visit, journalists were introduced to NATO’s operations, its institutional framework, and the organisation’s engagement with partner countries. Particular focus was placed on NATO’s growing cooperation with Azerbaijan, which officials describe as having strengthened considerably in recent years.
Valuable experience
Orkhan Amashov from AnewZ described the programme as highly rewarding, emphasising that the insights gained would help shape his understanding of NATO’s priorities and policies. While the details of the discussions remain under Chatham House rules and cannot be disclosed publicly, he highlighted the value of the briefings in broadening perspectives.
Azerbaijan-NATO ties
NATO has long maintained dialogue with Azerbaijan, and the relationship has deepened across areas of mutual interest, including regional security, defence cooperation and political consultation. Journalists said the tour helped underline the importance of these ties within the wider framework of NATO’s partnerships.
Gratitude and significance
Journalists expressed their gratitude to NATO and its Public Diplomacy Division for the organisational support. This year’s visit also coincides with the 150th anniversary of the Azerbaijani national press, a milestone that lent the tour additional significance.
