Georgia is set to host a record number of international observers for its upcoming parliamentary elections. As of October 15, the Central Election Commission of Georgia has registered 64 international organizations to monitor the election process, surpassing the numbers for all parliamentary elections since 2008.
For comparison, 48 international organizations observed the elections in 2020, 55 in 2016, 61 in 2012, and 62 in 2008. The registration process will remain open until October 22.
The parliamentary elections are scheduled for October 26, with the main contest between the ruling Georgian Dream party and the opposition. This election will mark the first time Georgia uses an electronic voting system, featuring new ballots and specialized counting machines. These technologies will be implemented in 90% of polling stations.
