Türkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is scheduled to visit Paris today to discuss European security, regional developments, and bilateral relations, according to media reports referring to sources from the Foreign Ministry.
During talks with France's Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, Fidan is expected to emphasize Türkiye's critical role in Europe's security and the importance of enhancing coordination in shaping the continent's new security architecture.
It is expected that Fidan will call for the removal of 'artificial barriers' hindering Türkiye’s EU integration and urge the European Union to take clear and meaningful steps toward closer cooperation.
On broader geopolitical matters, Fidan is expected to reaffirm Türkiye’s commitment to facilitating a just and lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of close cooperation among allies in the peace process.
He will also address Türkiye's concerns regarding northern Syria, advocating for greater engagement with Syria’s new administration and call for the complete lifting of sanctions to foster stability in the country.
Additionally, Fidan will urge for international action to halt Israel’s actions that threaten regional security and its alleged crimes against humanity in Gaza.
In addition to focusing on international cooperation, Fidan will discuss bilateral relations between Türkiye and France, aiming to increase trade volume and mutual investments. He will also emphasize the importance of strengthening cooperation in areas such as energy, transportation, technology, culture, and education.
