Russian President Vladimir Putin’s state visit to Kazakhstan is a "historic event." Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said this at talks with his Russian counterpart.
President Tokayev thanked Russian President Putin for visiting Kazakhstan and called Russia his country's strategic partner and reliable ally. He described their relationship as "meaningful and future-oriented". A joint statement adopted between the two presidents says that Putin invited Tokayev to pay a return visit to Russia next year.
In the framewok of his state visit, the Russian president took part in the CSTO summit in Astana. The event chaired by Kazakhstani President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The summit attended by the presidents of Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The leadership of Armenia, a member of the organization, did not attend the summit.
The leaders discussed the formation of a new architecture of equal and indivisible security in Eurasia.
14 documents signed at the conclusion of the summit, including a final declaration and a joint statement commemorating the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
