Tajikistan’s President, Emomali Rahmon, has appointed Emomali Sobirzoda as the country's new Defense Minister, following a decree signed recently. Sobirzoda, who previously served as First Deputy Defense Minister, takes over from Sherali Mirzo, who led the ministry since 2013. Mirzo has been reassigned to head the Department for Protection of State Secrets under the Government of Tajikistan.
In addition, Bobojon Saidzoda has been named First Deputy Defense Minister and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, further strengthening Tajikistan's defense leadership.
These changes mark a significant shift in Tajikistan's military leadership as the country continues to focus on national security and defense modernization.
