Dua Lipa has announced her engagement to British actor Callum Turner, calling the decision to grow old together “a really special feeling.”
Pop star Dua Lipa has confirmed that she is engaged to actor Callum Turner, revealing the news in an interview with British Vogue. The 29-year-old singer has been in a relationship with the 35-year-old London-born actor for nearly a year and a half.
“Yeah, we’re engaged,” Lipa said. “It’s very exciting. This decision to grow old together, to see a life and just, I don’t know, be best friends forever – it’s a really special feeling.”
Turner, best known for his roles in Fantastic Beasts, Masters of the Air, and his 2020 BAFTA-nominated performance in The Capture, reportedly had the engagement ring custom-made. According to Lipa, he consulted with her sister and close friends before having the ring designed.
The couple first sparked engagement rumours around Christmas, when Lipa posted photos wearing a noticeable ring.
“It’s so me,” she said of the ring. “It’s nice to know the person that you’re going to spend the rest of your life with knows you very well.”
Although no wedding date has been set, Lipa noted that they are both busy with work commitments. She is currently on a world tour, ending in Mexico in December, while Turner is filming the upcoming Apple TV sci-fi series Neuromancer, based on William Gibson’s acclaimed 1984 novel.
“We’re just enjoying this period,” Lipa added. “I’ve never been someone who’s really thought about a wedding, or dreamt about what kind of bride I would be. All of a sudden I’m like, ‘Oh, what would I wear?’”
