British rising star Owen Cooper has made Emmy history at just 15 years old, becoming the youngest-ever nominee in his acting category for his chilling portrayal in Netflix’s Adolescence.

Owen Cooper, the British teenager starring in Adolescence, has earned a historic Emmy nomination, becoming the youngest nominee in his category. His portrayal of Jamie Miller, a teen accused of murder, has drawn widespread praise.

The four-episode series, filmed in continuous shots, is Netflix’s second most-watched show globally and the most popular UK original, following Baby Reindeer.

Co-stars include Stephen Graham, who also received an Emmy nod, alongside Christine Tremarco, Ashley Walters, and Erin Doherty. Cooper’s natural performance features moments of improvisation, notably his unscripted line “Look at me now!”

Reflecting on his character, Cooper emphasised Jamie’s exposure to damaging online content and the consequences of missed warnings from those around him.

Adolescence closes with a poignant look at a family shattered by tragedy, prompting wider discussions on youth and digital influences.
