Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan spoke by phone on Tuesday with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss the latest efforts to end the war in Ukraine, diplomatic sources said.
The call focused on the outcomes of Monday’s Russia-Ukraine peace talks in Istanbul, where the two sides agreed to a new prisoner exchange, prioritizing the youngest and most seriously wounded soldiers. They also committed to returning the bodies of 6,000 fallen troops from each side.
Fidan and Rubio also exchanged views on ongoing developments in Syria and Gaza.
Monday’s meeting marked the second round of talks in Türkiye, following the first held on May 16.
