A 61-year-old man in Alaska rescued after being trapped facedown under a massive 700-pound boulder in a freezing glacier-fed creek for three hours.
Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a phone call on Wednesday with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, to discuss recent initiatives aimed at ending the more than three-year-long Russia-Ukraine war.
According to diplomatic sources, both sides evaluated potential next steps toward resolving the conflict.
In a statement issued the same day, Lavrov said that Russia had proposed holding a second round of direct negotiations with Ukraine on June 2 in Istanbul. He emphasized that the initiative had been made possible with the support of the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye.
"Thanks to this support, conditions have been created for the resumption of direct Russia-Ukraine negotiations," Lavrov stated.
He also noted that the first round of talks was held on May 16 in Istanbul and resulted in a prisoner exchange involving 1,000 individuals from each side. The parties additionally agreed to begin drafting position documents aimed at achieving a sustainable peace settlement.
