Türkiye has secured a total of $6.4 billion from international sources to help the southeastern region recover after the deadly 2023 earthquakes, according to the Treasury and Finance Ministry.
Most recently, the World Bank approved a $500 million loan to help protect and create jobs in the 11 provinces hit hardest by the disaster, along with seven nearby areas. The deal was signed on May 23 and will support employment efforts through Türkiye’s Development and Investment Bank.
Out of the total $6.4 billion raised since February 2023, around $2.4 billion has been directed toward helping businesses and exporters.
Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek said that the government is focused on creating jobs, boosting production, and making financing more accessible. He added that the money, secured through strong partnerships with global organizations, is being used effectively to support economic growth.
