Steve Witkoff, U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoy to the Middle East, expressed confidence that Monday's planned phone call between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin could help advance peace efforts.

Speaking to ABC News on Sunday, Witkoff said, "I believe the president will have a successful call with Putin. They have a personal connection, and he's committed to finding a solution. If anyone can do it, he can".

Trump revealed on Saturday via his Truth Social platform that he would be speaking with Putin on Monday, followed by separate calls with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and NATO leaders. He said the aim is to end the ongoing conflict, which he described as a "bloodbath" costing over 5,000 Russian and Ukrainian lives each week.
