A bomb exploded near a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California on Saturday, killing one person and damaging the building, officials said.
The blast occurred less than a mile from downtown and appeared to involve a vehicle parked by the clinic, according to Mayor Ron deHarte. It’s still unclear who the victim was or if they were connected to the explosion.
Only an axle remained of the vehicle. Authorities, including local police, fire crews, and the FBI, are investigating. California Governor Gavin Newsom has been briefed.
The clinic, American Reproductive Centers, was damaged, but the IVF lab and stored embryos were not affected. No patients were present at the time.
