Thousands of Peruvian citizens have taken to the streets of Lima to protest a surge in crime following the assassination of a popular cumbia singer, sparking nationwide outrage.
Paul Flores, lead vocalist of the band Armonía 10, was shot dead earlier in the week while traveling on a bus with the ensemble. The band’s manager has blamed a criminal gang for the killing.
