Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Friday that Russia would ensure the safety of Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region if they choose to surrender. During a meeting with the Russian Security Council, Putin called on Ukrainian authorities to instruct their troops to lay down their arms.
U.S. President Donald Trump also urged Putin to spare the Ukrainian troops in the region, expressing optimism that the conflict could come to an end soon.
