Russia’s defense ministry reported the interception of 59 Ukrainian drones overnight, with 45 brought down over the Bryansk region and others in Kursk, Belgorod, Tula, and Moscow. Officials say no casualties or damage occurred. Ukraine has not commented on the incident.
Russia’s air defense units intercepted 59 Ukrainian drones on Sunday night, including two near Moscow, the defense ministry announced Monday via Telegram.
45 drones were destroyed over the Bryansk region, which borders Ukraine, while others were intercepted in the Kursk, Belgorod, and Tula regions, the ministry stated.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported on Telegram that preliminary assessments showed no damage or casualties from debris. Bryansk Governor Alexander Bogomaz posted that all drones targeting his region were destroyed.
Ukraine has not commented on the incident but has previously stated that its drone attacks on Russian territory aim to disrupt infrastructure critical to Moscow’s war efforts, citing them as responses to continued Russian strikes on Ukraine.
