The wreckage of a Philippine Air Force F-50 fighter jet, which had gone missing during a tactical night mission, was found on Mt. Kalatungan in Bukidnon province, southern Philippines, the military confirmed on Wednesday.
Both pilots aboard the jet tragically lost their lives in the crash, according to the Manila Times. The aircraft was located at 11 a.m. local time (03:00 GMT), as confirmed by Lt. Col. Salvacion Evangelista, spokesperson for the Eastern Mindanao Command. The condition of the jet was not disclosed, but an aerial reconnaissance team reported finding two bodies near the crash site.
The jet had disappeared on Tuesday during a tactical night operation, while ground forces were engaged in clashes with members of the New People's Army, a Maoist armed group, in Bukidnon.
