Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Thursday that Ukraine is ready to work quickly on a strong security and investment agreement with the U.S. after meeting with envoy Keith Kellogg.
Zelenskyy called his meeting with U.S. envoy Keith Kellogg “a meeting which restores hope,” stressing that Ukraine needs an agreement that will “really work.” He instructed officials to move fast in drafting the deal.
The talks came a day after Zelenskyy and U.S. President Donald Trump exchanged criticism over Washington’s decision to hold direct negotiations with Russia without Ukraine’s involvement.
Following the meeting, Zelenskyy wrote on X that Ukraine must ensure peace is “strong and lasting” to prevent future conflict with Russia. He confirmed Ukraine is prepared for an effective security and investment deal with the U.S. and has proposed the fastest path to reaching an agreement.
The discussions also covered battlefield conditions, security guarantees, and the return of prisoners of war.
Zelenskyy’s comments followed Ukraine’s rejection of a U.S. proposal to develop rare earths in the country. He emphasized that Ukraine wants U.S. support to be felt “for the entire free world.”
