More than 2 tonnes of a substance resembling cocaine were seized on Saturday (9 November) in the Dominican Republic en route to the port of Antwerp, Belgium, marking the second-largest alleged drug seizure in the country.
Authorities inspected a container reportedly carrying garments at the port of Caucedo, in Boca Chica, where they found 2,198 cardboard packets.
The cargo arrived from Panama and was destined for Europe, the government’s National Directorate for Drug Control informed in a press conference.
The cargo was secured for further investigations.
