Ukrainian forces said on Wednesday they had carried out long-range strikes against two Russian gas industry facilities in western Siberia, around 3,000 kilometres from Ukraine's border.
Ukraine's Special Operations Forces said the targets were two major gas condensate plants located in Novy Urengoy and the Purovsky district of Russia's Yamalo-Nenets region, a key centre of the country's natural gas production.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy praised the operation, saying the strikes targeted Russia's economic infrastructure and war-funding capacity.
Moscow has not immediately commented on the reported attacks or any potential damage to the facilities.
