Passengers were killed in an overnight Russian strike on a border checkpoint between Ukraine and Moldova, Ukraine's border guard service has said. Meanwhile, Kyiv hit a Russian oil terminal in the southern Black Sea port of Novorossiysk, Ukrainian media reported.

Two killed in attack on Ukraine-Moldova border checkpoint 

Two people were killed in the Russian strike overnight on a border checkpoint between Ukraine and Moldova, Oleh Kiper, Governor of Odesa, has said on Telegram. Another three people were injured in the incident, while 16 others were evacuated to safety, he added.

Russian air strikes have damaged port, transport and civilian infrastructure in Mykolaiv, southern Ukraine, in an attack that killed one person and left several others injured, a local official said on Telegram.

Russia strikes checkpoint on Ukraine-Moldova border 

Russian hit a checkpoint on the Ukraine-Moldova border overnight, killing travellers in the vicinity, Ukraine's border guard service has said on Telegram. The border service didn't give details about the number of people who died.

The checkpoint near the village of Starokozache, southwestern Ukraine, is currently closed due to the attack.

Staff from closed Russian House in Berlin arrive in Belarus 

Five employees of a Russian cultural and information centre in Berlin have arrived in Belarus after German authorities closed the institution, Russian state news agency TASS reported.

Germany announced the closure of the Russian House, among other measures, on 1 September after it blamed Russia for an apparent attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport in August. Russia has rejected the accusations.

U.S. Secretary of State optimistic about Russia-Ukraine negotiations 

Marco Rubio, U.S. Secretary of State, has said he believes it's possible to resume Russia-Ukraine peace talks in the coming weeks, Russian state news agency TASS has reported, citing remarks made by Rubio in Colombia. 

“I think there's an opportunity in the next few weeks to develop a plan of action to resume negotiations and, perhaps, reach a solution that's acceptable to both sides,” he said, in a response to journalists' questions broadcast on American television channels.

Two hospitalised after Russia strikes Dnipro 

Two people, a 51-year-old man and a 52-year-old women, were hospitalised in Dnipro, east-central Ukraine, following Russian strikes overnight, Oleksandr Ganzha, Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, said in a post on Telegram.

Russian oil terminal struck, Ukrainian media reports 

Drones hit an oil terminal in the southern Russian city of Novorossiysk overnight, Ukrainian newspaper The Kyiv Independent has reported, citing monitoring channels. 

Andrey Kravchenko, Novorossiysk Mayor, confirmed on Telegram that drone strikes have occurred, warning residents to take shelter in windowless rooms or basements.

Novorossiysk, a frequent target of Ukrainian drone strikes, is a major outlet for Russian oil, oil products and grain exports, among other commodities.

In Kherson on Ukraine's Black Sea coast, a 70-year-old woman was killed when a Russian drone hit an apartment block, Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the Kerson Regional Military Administration said on Telegram. 

Oleh Syniehubov, Governor of Kharkiv in northeastern Ukraine, said three people were injured during a Russian drone attack on the village of Zolochiv. Administrative buildings were damaged in the incident, he added.
