Two people have been killed and at least five others injured, including a child, after a shooting at the Seattle Center in Washington state during a food and music festival.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening as the Seattle Center hosted the annual Bite of Seattle festival, which features hundreds of local food vendors and live performances.
Witnesses told local media they heard several gunshots inside the venue, prompting people to flee the area.
The Seattle Police Department said officers were investigating a shooting involving “multiple victims” and urged the public to avoid the area.
The Seattle Fire Department said two people were pronounced dead at the scene.
Among those injured was a two-year-old child who was taken to hospital in a stable condition. A 56-year-old woman was also hospitalised in serious condition, while other victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Harborview Medical Center said it treated five people following the shooting and placed the facility under partial lockdown as a precaution while coordinating with police.
Authorities have not confirmed whether a suspect has been detained or identified.
Footage shared on social media appeared to show police removing an individual from the area, but officials have not confirmed whether the person was connected to the shooting.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.
