Tropical Storm Diclede devastates Madagascar, claiming 3 lives, displacing 308, and flooding 179 homes, with heavy rains and relief challenges persisting in the north.

A tropical storm in Madagascar has claimed three lives, the National Office for Risk and Disaster Management reported on Monday. Tropical Storm Diclede caused severe weather in the Sava region, impacting nearly 1,000 people.

According to Mehr News Agency, citing the Associated Press, the storm hit the Vohimar area in northern Madagascar with winds reaching 130 km/h and gusts up to 180 km/h. 

The disaster displaced 308 individuals, flooded 179 homes, and caused minor damage to 38 houses. Additionally, a section of National Road No. 6 was cut off, hindering relief efforts in the affected areas.

Meteorological officials have issued warnings of heavy rainfall exceeding 120 mm in the coming hours, particularly in the northern regions of the island.
