The pilot of an Indian fighter jet performing in the Dubai Air Show has died after the aircraft crashed during an aerial display on Friday.
The Indian Air Force said in a statement that the light combat aircraft went down at approximately 2:10pm local time, while attempting to execute a manoeuvre.
It also sent condolences to the family of the bereaved saying "IAF deeply regrets the loss of life and stands firmly with the bereaved family in this time of grief."
The Air Force added that an investigation into ascertaining the cause of the incident has begun as "a court of inquiry is being constituted".
The Dubai Media Office in a post on X said that firefighting and emergency teams have responded to the incident and are managing the situation on-site.
The plane crash occured on the last day of the Dubai Airshow, a biennial event which has been ongoing since Monday this week.
