U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed his disappointment in his Russian counterpart Vladmir Putin with regards to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Trump while speaking to journalists at the white house said he didn't expect the war in Ukraine to go on as long as it did.

He said he was "disappointed in Putin", adding that he "thought it (ceasefire deal) would be easy but might be tougher than the middle east".

On the Israel and Gaza ceasefire, Trump also said that he made the deal that would bring peace to the middle east.

Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney made his second visit to the White House in five months on Tuesday under increasing pressure to address U.S. tariffs on steel, autos, and other goods that are hurting Canada's economy.

Carney and U.S. President Donald Trump, both smiling, shook hands and chatted for a few seconds before entering the building. Their schedule calls for a face-to-face meeting followed by lunch.

Trump calls trade negotiations with Canada "complicated, more complicated than maybe any other agreement we have on trade."

He says this is due to "natural conflict" between the two countries, but also "mutual love."

Trump also said that the conclusion of tariffs imposed on Canada was still something he would discuss with Canadian prime minister Mark Carney.

Golden Dome

President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the United States is working closely with Canada on a Golden Dome missile defence system.

"The golden dome is something Canada and United States are working on together to have for their citizens.

Especially if you look at what's happening in the world today" President Trump said.

He had earlier announced plans for the missile defence system immediately after taking office in January.

National Guard deployment and Security

Trump who is currently embroilled in a legal battle over deployment of the National Guard to Chicago claimed that Washington D.C. was "safe".

He said "When I got here the place was a raging hell hole" adding that he "took out 1,700 career criminals" and sent them back to countries where they came from.

He said Canada also suffered greatly from the open borders and blamed Joe Biden for letting people through.

Carney responding to the same statement, said that Canada was tightening its borders with Trump also saying that no boats were coming in anymore. "Not even fishing boats".

The prime minister last visited the Oval Office in May, when he bluntly told Trump that Canada would never be for sale in response to Trump's repeated threat to purchase or annex Canada.

Since then, the prime minister has made numerous concessions to Canada's biggest trading partner, including dropping some counter-tariffs and scrapping a digital services tax aimed at U.S. tech companies.

Carney's office has said the working visit will focus on forging a new economic and security relationship with the U.S.
