A tragic boat explosion at Lauderdale Marina in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Monday evening claimed one life and left five others injured, three of them critically.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. as a small boat was fueling up, according to witnesses. Heart-stopping footage shows the moment the vessel exploded, propelling its upper section into the air before it landed back onto the burning wreckage.
Eyewitnesses at a nearby restaurant described the chaotic scene. “I heard a huge explosion, and I looked over to see a woman on the second floor of the boat,” one bystander told The Miami Herald. The explosion also ignited a second, smaller boat in the marina.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene, rescuing five people from the water and transporting them to local hospitals. Three of the victims suffered serious injuries, while one individual was later found dead in the water by divers.
Tamer Dimiati, a restaurant employee, shared his firsthand account of the disaster. “The boat is completely gone,” he told Local 10. “One man was on fire, another was in the water. It was chaos everywhere.”
Firefighters battled the intense flames for nearly two hours before bringing the blaze under control, officials said. The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
The tragedy has left the local community shaken as authorities continue to work to determine what caused this devastating incident
