Russia has launched up to 805 drones and 13 missiles into Ukraine overnight in what is being called the 'largest air attack' against Ukraine since the invasion in 2022.

Ukrainian authorities say air defence intercepted 751 of said drones and four of the missiles whilst the others hit targests including residential buildings and Ukraine seat of government in Kyiv.

The attack set the main building of the Ukrainian government in Kyiv on fire and left three people dead, including an infant, whose body was pulled from the rubble.

Emergency services officials also say 18 people were injured in the attack which set fires through out the city.

Ukraine's State Emergency Service (SES) posted footage on Telegram showing firefighters working inside a damaged building, with an accompanying caption saying psychologists were also on-site to provide assistance to residents who had been evacuated.

President Putin had expressed interest in meeting Ukraine's Zelenskyy but only in Moscow.

He however frowned on the announcement by French President Emmanuel Macron of a solid agreement of security guarantees for Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire.

The plan backed by twenty six countries involved sending ground troops, naval and air defence support to Ukraine.

Putin reacted saying "Therefore, if some troops appear there, especially now, during military operations, we proceed from the fact that these will be legitimate targets for destruction."

"And if decisions are reached that lead to peace, to long-term peace, then I simply do not see any sense in their presence on the territory of Ukraine, full stop. Should such agreements be achieved, let no one doubt that Russia will implement them in full." he warned.
