Aerial footage has captured the dramatic eruption of Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano, with lava spewing across its summit as scientists rushed to collect samples.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) released video showing Kilauea volcano erupting in Hawaii on Wednesday, 6 August. The aerial footage revealed lava fountains and molten rivers flowing across the summit caldera.

Geologists were also seen conducting research on-site, including a helicopter landing on the caldera floor to gather lava for chemical analysis.

The eruption continued for several hours, marking another chapter in Kilauea’s ongoing volcanic activity. According to the USGS, the volcano has shown intermittent eruptions since late 2024 and remains one of the most active volcanoes in the world.
