Yemen’s Houthi group said it attacked the bulk carrier Magic Seas in the Red Sea, causing the vessel to take on water and sink.

In a statement on Monday, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the ship was hit on Sunday by “two unmanned boats, five ballistic and cruise missiles, and three drones.”

He added the strike directly hit the vessel, leading to water entering the hull. “The ship is now sinking,” Saree said, adding the crew was allowed to evacuate safely.

According to Saree, the attack came after several warnings sent to the ship were ignored by the crew.
