Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamanei appeared in public for the first time since the recent conflict with Israel, attending Ashura commemorations in Tehran on Saturday night.

Khamenei had not attended the previous three nights of Muharram mourning ceremonies held at his residence on Palestine Street. His return came during the central Ashura ceremony at the Imam Khomeini Hussainiyah.

Footage shared on his official social media channels showed Khamenei entering the hall as attendees chanted slogans expressing support and loyalty.

This year marked the first time the annual Muharram ceremonies at his residence were held without his participation — until his appearance tonight.

Khamenei had delivered several televised speeches during the 12-day conflict and also addressed the nation following the ceasefire.
