An explosion at a gas station in eastern Rome on Friday has injured multiple people and forced the closure of a nearby metro station, according to local media reports.
Several people were injured, including three with severe burns, after an explosion occurred at a gas station in the Via dei Gordiani area of eastern Rome on Friday, Italian media reported.
The blast took place at a fuel distributor that supplies petrol, diesel, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
The explosion was reportedly heard across large parts of the city.
Local news outlet Roma Today published images showing a large cloud of smoke and flames rising above the site.
Rome’s public transport agency, Atac, confirmed the nearby Teano metro station was closed following police instructions as a precautionary measure.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion.
