Chelsea part ways with manager Enzo Maresca

Chelsea Football Club have parted ways with manager Enzo Maresca, after the London side have won just one of their last seven English Premier League games.

The Italian, 45, who joined Chelsea in 2024, won the Europa Conference League and Club World Cup in his first season.

But poor results in December and outbursts from Maresca in the media about the club have led the hierarchy to take action.

After beating Everton 2-0 for Chelsea's only Premier League win in December, Maresca told the media that “many people” had made it his “worst 48 hours” since joining the club.

This was just one of a few occasions that caused friction between him and the club in his 18 months in charge.

“With key objectives still to play for across four competitions, Enzo and the club believe a change gives the team the best chance of getting the season back on track,” the club said in a statement.

It is understood that Chelsea is expected to announce a new manager in the coming days.
