Hulk Hogan, the iconic wrestling superstar who helped turn World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) into a global spectacle, has died at 71. His larger-than-life persona and thunderous charisma made him a cultural icon and a controversial one.

"WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture's most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s," WWE said on X. It gave no cause of death.

Hogan, born Terry Bollea, passed away in Clearwater, Florida, after suffering cardiac arrest, authorities said.

As one of WWE’s biggest stars, he headlined the inaugural WrestleMania in 1985 and battled legendary figures like André the Giant, Randy Savage, and The Rock.

Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 and became a pop culture figure beyond wrestling, starring in movies, TV shows, and the VH1 reality series Hogan Knows Best.

He was married three times and had two children who co-starred with him in the reality show Hogan Knows Best.

Through triumphs and scandals, Hulk Hogan remained a towering figure—calling himself the 'Babe Ruth of wrestling.'
