The combined death toll from Typhoon Fung-wong and Typhoon Kalmaegi in the Philippines has reached 259, with 114 people still reported missing, state media says.
Streets and homes in Taiwan's Yilan County were left inundated with mud and rubble on Wednesday (12 November) after floodwaters swept through residential areas, forcing residents to wade through puddles of water and clear debris from damaged homes.
Taiwan issued a land warning on Tuesday and evacuated more than 3,000 people from their homes ahead of the arrival of Typhoon Fung-wong which, while weakening, is expected to dump large amounts of rain on the island's mountainous east coast.
At least two people have died in the Philippines as Super Typhoon Fung-wong battered central and eastern regions, bringing torrential rain and powerful winds that knocked out electricity across much of the Bicol region ahead of its anticipated landfall in northern Luzon.
