Azerbaijan and Türkiye have signed an agreement covering the supply of 33 billion cubic metres of natural gas, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said.

Under the deal, gas supplies will be delivered over 15 years, with 2.25 billion cubic metres per year coming from the Absheron field in the Caspian Sea.

The agreement will enter into force in 2029 and is set to run into the 2040s.

Bayraktar said the gas will be transported to Türkiye using existing infrastructure via the Baku–Tbilisi–Erzurum pipeline.
