Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has arrived in Egypt to attend the Middle East Peace Summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, following an invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan is participating in the Middle East Peace Summit in Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday, joining more than 20 world leaders in discussions on regional security and post-conflict reconstruction in Gaza.

Aliyev was welcomed on arrival at the International Congress Centre by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, host of the summit, which follows the recent Gaza ceasefire agreement brokered by the U.S., Egypt and Qatar.

The summit, co-chaired by U.S. President Donald Trump, comes as all 20 remaining living Israeli hostages were released by Hamas under the terms of the truce, in exchange for a large-scale release of Palestinian prisoners by Israel.

The gathering is expected to focus on a broader 20-point peace framework addressing long-term governance and security in Gaza, as well as the future of Hamas and the role of international actors in reconstruction.
