The U-20 European Wrestling Championship in Caorle, Italy, is nearing its end, with Azerbaijan’s Vasif Baghirov securing a hard-earned victory in the 57 kg final against Georgia’s Nika Zangaladze.
After trailing 5-6 in the first period, Baghirov, from the Ganja Wrestling School, made an impressive comeback in the second half to win 9-6, claiming the European title after earning a silver medal last year.
In the 79 kg final, debutant Muradkhan Omarov faced Georgia’s Davit Chechlashvili but was unable to secure a win, suffering a 0-10 defeat and settling for the silver medal.
Additionally, Ravan Musayev, competing in the 97 kg category, defeated Hungary’s Peter Sivnovski 7-0 in the consolation round but lost 0-6 to Russia’s Magomedgadji Magomedov in the bronze medal match.
