Israel deployed tanks to the northern part of the Israeli-occupied West Bank on Sunday (February 23), marking the first such deployment in over 20 years.
In a statement, Defence Minister Israel Katz announced that he had ordered the military to intensify operations in the Palestinian refugee camps of Jenin, Tulkarem, and Nur al-Shams in the northern West Bank to dismantle militant infrastructure. He also mentioned that 40,000 Palestinians had fled the camps.
The tanks will be stationed in Jenin as part of this operation, according to the military statement.
