China on Wednesday conducted a successful space mission by launching a group of space-based computing satellites aboard a Long March-2D carrier rocket, state-run Xinhua News Agency reported.
The launch took place at 12:12 p.m. local time (0412GMT) from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, located in the Gobi Desert in northwestern China. The mission was carried out using a Long March-2D rocket, part of China’s flagship Long March family of launch vehicles.
According to the report, this was the 576th flight mission of the Long March series, which has become a workhorse of China’s space ambitions. The country has been accelerating its launch schedule in recent years, focusing on satellite networks, lunar exploration, and building its own space station.
