Türkiye to host NATO summit in 2026

Türkiye will host the 2026 NATO leaders summit in Ankara, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Monday, saying the country is preparing the groundwork for what he described as “very important” decisions.

Speaking after a Cabinet meeting in the capital, Erdogan said Türkiye was pleased with the rapid progress made under its “terror-free Türkiye” initiative, but warned that attempts to derail the process were ongoing.

Erdogan said Türkiye’s efforts to create a stable, secure domestic environment were directly linked to its increasing role in NATO and global diplomacy.

Preparations for the 2026 summit, he added, would focus on alliance cohesion, regional security, and new policy directions.
