President Donald Trump will not join the upcoming Russia-Ukraine negotiations in Istanbul, Türkiye, a U.S. official told Reuters.

The Kremlin has confirmed that President Vladimir Putin will not attend the May 15 talks in Istanbul. While Trump had reportedly considered adjusting his Middle East tour if Putin were attending, it's unclear if the two decisions are directly related.

Meanwhile, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Sybiha met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Senator Lindsey Graham in Türkiye to align their positions during a critical week. Sybiha reaffirmed Ukraine's commitment to President Trump's peace efforts, thanked the U.S. for its involvement, and expressed readiness to advance cooperation constructively and mutually beneficially.

The upcoming talks in Istanbul are drawing significant global attention as efforts to ease tensions persist.
