Demonstrators gathered outside the Munich Security Conference (MSC) to protest against NATO, the arms industry, and war.
The protests brought together pro-Palestine activists and those opposing weapon deliveries to Ukraine. One demonstrator argued that alternative perspectives were needed, criticizing the influence of corporations at the conference.
At the same time, a pro-Ukrainian counter-protest took place at Odeonsplatz.
Protests against the MSC have a long history, dating back to before its current form. One of the earliest demonstrations occurred in 2002 when the event was known as the Munich Conference on Security Policy.
Over 5,000 police officers have been deployed to ensure security around the conference this year.
