A medevac plane carrying six people, including a child, crashed in northeast Philadelphia on Friday, the air ambulance company operating the aircraft said

Jet Rescue Air Ambulance confirmed four crew members, a pediatric patient, and the patient’s escort were on board but said it could not confirm any survivors.

The Learjet 55 crashed around 6:30 p.m. (0030 GMT) near Roosevelt Mall, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Local media reported multiple injuries on the ground. Video footage showed the aircraft in a sharp dive before hitting the ground and exploding in a massive fireball. At least one house and several cars caught fire, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker said authorities were in full response mode but could not yet provide details on casualties. The Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management described the situation as a "major incident" but gave no further information.

The aircraft had departed from Northeast Philadelphia Airport and was en route to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri. Weather conditions at the time were cold and rainy, with low visibility.

President Donald Trump called the crash "so sad" and praised first responders for their efforts. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro also offered state resources to assist emergency crews.

This crash follows a deadly collision earlier this week between an American Airlines jet and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter over Washington, D.C., which killed 67 people—the worst U.S. air disaster since 2009. (Updated)
