Four members of Syria’s General Directorate of Ports were injured on Friday when their vehicle came under fire east of Aleppo, local authorities reported.

The attack occurred on the Raqqa road, targeting a vehicle belonging to the directorate. The assailants remain unidentified, and the medical condition of the injured personnel has not been immediately confirmed, Anadolu Agency correspondents reported.

Security authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

The attack comes as Syria’s transitional administration continues efforts to strengthen security nationwide and address ongoing unrest linked to remnants of the former regime.

Bashar al-Assad, who led Syria for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia earlier this year, ending the Baath Party’s rule that began in 1963. A new transitional government, headed by President Ahmad al-Sharaa, was established in January.
