Ortagus, formerly the State Department spokesperson from 2019 to 2021, called the appointment an honor and a "dream come true," emphasizing her commitment to advancing peace in the Middle East.
Prior to this role, Ortagus served as a financial intelligence analyst at the Treasury Department and as deputy Treasury attaché in Saudi Arabia.
