A Türkiye-registered Air Tractor AT-802F crashed in western Croatia on Thursday, killing the pilot, local authorities and media reported.
The plane disappeared from radar shortly before 5 p.m. local time. Emergency services were alerted about 20 minutes later after a fire was reported near the town of Krivi Put, close to Senj on the Adriatic coast. Rescue teams found the aircraft in flames and recovered the pilot’s body after extinguishing the fire.
The aircraft was reportedly on a circular flight from Rijeka to the Aeronautical Technical Center in Zagreb and back. It was operated by Türkiye’s General Directorate of Forestry. There were no other people on board.
Air Tractor AT-802 planes are generally used for agriculture or firefighting. Authorities have not confirmed the cause of the crash.
