Türkiye mediates new round of Ukraine-Russia peace talks in Istanbul

The third round of renewed peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, facilitated by Türkiye, is set to begin in Istanbul on Wednesday evening.

Andriy Yermak, head of the Ukrainian presidential office conveyed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's greetings and expressed deep gratitude to Türkiye.

“We expressed our gratitude to Türkiye and President Erdoğan for their consistent political and security support for Ukraine throughout the full-scale war with Russia,” Yermak said. 

The delegation, led by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, also met Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Erdoğan’s chief adviser Akif Cagatay Kilic.

Discussions addressed regional security, defense cooperation, and Türkiye’s ongoing role as a negotiation host.

The trilateral peace talks involving delegations from Türkiye, Ukraine, and Russia are set to begin Wednesday evening at Istanbul’s Ciragan Palace, chaired by Minister Fidan.
