U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to begin talks with China early next week about a potential TikTok deal, signaling progress toward resolving the app’s U.S. ownership issues.
President Trump said he expects to start discussions with China on Monday or Tuesday regarding the sale of TikTok’s U.S. operations. He mentioned that a deal is nearly finalized but will require China’s approval.

He acknowledged uncertainty over China’s approval but believes the deal benefits both countries. The U.S. extended the deadline for ByteDance to divest TikTok’s U.S. assets to 17 September.
