China has successfully launched a new satellite, Tianping-3A 02, into space from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in Shanxi province.
The satellite was launched aboard a Long March-6 carrier rocket at 10:12 a.m. Beijing time (02:12 GMT) and entered its preset orbit successfully, according to Xinhua News Agency.
This launch marks the 568th mission of the Long March rocket series. The satellite’s primary purpose is to calibrate ground-based radar equipment, particularly for radar cross-section (RCS) measurements.
Additionally, the satellite will assist in imaging experiments for ground-based optical equipment, monitor the low-orbit space environment, and provide services for atmospheric space environment measurement and orbital prediction model correction.
