Construction of the Zangezur Corridor in Azerbaijan is set to be completed next year, marking a major step in enhancing regional transport and trade flows, officials said.
Fariz Aliyev, Head of the Transport Policy Department at the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan announced the expected completion of the Zangezur Corridor on Azerbaijani territory during an event celebrating the arrival of a new container train from China’s Zhejiang province at the Absheron Logistics Terminal.
Aliyev highlighted that the corridor will play a key role in Azerbaijan’s transport network, strengthening both East–West and North–South transit routes.
He added that complementary projects in Türkiye are also underway: the 224-kilometre Kars–Dilucu line is expected to be completed within four years.
Once operational, the Zangezur Corridor is projected to increase annual freight volumes along the Middle Corridor by an additional 15 million tonnes.
